The goal is to have each student be able to see the connection of our next science unit. We are going to be investigating seeds and thought one good way to make the seeds relevant to the students was to show them the evolution of farming and how it affects us today. We know that you plant a seed, it grows, and then you get a plant. There are not many students who have gardens in thier backyards so they can harvest the fruit or veggies that are being produced. The goal of this mini-unit to inform students of the history and current impact of farming.

Hopefully each student will be able to walk away from this with a deeper understanding of the reasons why we need to know about seeds.

The two main questions that students should be able to answer at the end are:

What is the history of farming?

How does farming affect my family and my state?
